  • Boston Applied Technologies' EclipseTM series of Variable Optical Attenuators (VOAs) enable all solid-state, high-speed performance in a very compact package. The Integrated Multifunctional Module (IMM), combining the OptoCeramic® platform with micro optic design, makes the integration of multiple functions in a same compact package possible, such as gain flattening filter, optical add/drop multiplexer, isolator, as well as the polarization management functions. Comparing to waveguide type integrated multifunctional devices, BATI's IMM has the advantages of fast prototyping, proven reliable micro optic design, low cost and high optical performance. Some of the examples are:

    Variable Add/Drop Module (VADM)
Variable Add/Drop Module (VADM) is a combination of an optical add/drop module (OADM) and an EclipseTM high speed VOA. It provides the optical power control ability to an added or dropped wavelength channel and can be used in Variable Multiplexer (VMUX) or Variable DeMultiplexer (VDEMUX). It features excellent optical characteristics, including low insertion loss, high channel isolation and high speed power adjustment.

    Directional VOA (DVOA)
BATI’s DVOA provides an added optical isolation function to the EclipseTM VOA. In addition to the high speed optical power control, the DVOA also has up to 40dB isolation to the backward signals.

    SutterVOA
ShutterVOA integrated an on/off shutter into an EclipseTM VOA, which provides high speed optical attenuation up to 30 dB and a total light shut-off as demanded.

The IMM is also available with BATI's AcrobatTM Polarization Control devices and EquinoxTM Dynamic Gain Control devices. Please contact BATI for your specific applications and to customize your own devices.
